Provides a search, per county, for criminal history in the felony and misdemeanor courts going back 7 years.
Available for any county – nationwide.
At one time, County Criminal Reports were the only option available for a criminal background check. Things have come a long way since then and now we have more options, such as Statewide and National Criminal Database Searches and Statewide Comprehensive Criminal Reports.
That being said, the heart of all of the available criminal reports is a County search. Without the county courthouses, we wouldn’t be able to compile the other reports. County Reports are the most accurate and up-to-date information available.
While they have the upside of being the most accurate and up-to-date, County Criminal reports are only for one particular county. If someone commits a crime in one county and moves to another, you would need to check both. Also, some cities span across more than one county. This can get very costly if you have to check each individual county one by one.
The choice to order County Criminal Reports versus a Statewide or National report really comes down to what you feel comfortable with. Is it more important to cover more area or be as “up to the minute” as possible?
